It is worth remembering that puff pastry is a composition rich in fats. They always roll it out in one direction, this determines how it will layer and how it will grow! It is advisable to keep the baked roll on a baking sheet until completely cooled, and only then can it be cut into portions! Well, now, let's move on to the cooking recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Frozen puff pastry - 300 g
  • Poppy - 100 g
  • Sugar - 100 g or to taste
  • Drinking water - about 1-1.5 l

Preparation of puff pastry poppy seed roll:


1. Remove the dough from the freezer and let it defrost, while in the meantime make the filling. Take poppy seeds and sugar.


2. Pour the poppy seeds into a large, deep container, as... It will increase in volume after preparation, and pour boiling water over it.


3. Leave it to stand for 15-20 minutes until the water reaches room temperature and becomes cloudy.


4. Carefully drain the water and do a similar procedure 3 times.


5. Then transfer the poppy seeds into a food processor with a cutting blade attachment and add sugar.


6. Beat it until milk starts to come out of the poppy seed and it has a dark blue tint.


7. When the dough has thawed and becomes soft and pliable, take a rolling pin and roll it out into a thin rectangular layer. Make all movements in one direction so as not to disturb the layering.


8. Place all the poppy seed filling in the middle of the layer.


9. Distribute it over the dough area, not reaching the edges by 2-3 cm. Tuck the dough at three ends, covering the filling.


10. Carefully roll the dough into a log.


11. Cover a baking sheet with baking parchment and place the roll on it, seam side down. If desired, you can brush the roll with egg or butter to create a golden crust. You can also sprinkle with something: poppy seeds, sesame seeds, crushed nuts, etc.

Heat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the roll for half an hour. Afterwards, cool it on a baking sheet, because if you cut it while hot, it may break. Serve the cooled pastries with coffee, tea or a glass of milk.

  2. When all the moisture has evaporated, transfer the poppy seeds to a deep bowl. Add granulated sugar and butter. By the way, you can safely vary the portion of sugar, making the buns more or, conversely, less sweet.
  3. Using a pestle, grind the still hot poppy seeds, bringing them to maximum softening. This completes the simple filling for future buns!
  4. Now we move on to preparing the flour base. Having defrosted in advance, roll out the puff pastry for buns with poppy seeds into a thin rectangular layer about 2 mm thick. Spread the cooled sugar-poppy seed mixture on top in an even layer.
  5. Roll the dough into a thick and moderately tight roll, hiding the filling inside. Using a knife, cut the workpiece into equal portions 2-3 cm wide. Place on a baking sheet coated with butter, leaving free space between the future buns. Bake puff “snails” at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

  • poppy – 300 g;
  • sugar - to taste.

Preparation

  1. The poppy seeds are washed and boiled.
  2. The finished poppy seeds are mixed with honey and sugared to taste.
  3. The puff pastry is placed on a baking sheet.
  4. Place the filling on one half, cover with the other half, seal the edges and bake the poppy seed pie at 220 degrees until golden brown.

  • apples – 400 g;
  • butter – 120 g;
  • eggs – 3 pcs.;
  • powdered sugar, semolina - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • honey, oil - 1 tbsp. spoon;
  • baking powder – 1 teaspoon.

Preparation

  1. The poppy seeds are ground in a coffee grinder, poured with boiling water and left for 15 minutes.

Fasting is not a reason to completely give up delicious baked goods; a quick poppy seed pie is an excellent proof of this.   • eggs – 6 pcs.;

  • cinnamon – 1 teaspoon;

  • vegetable oil – 2 tbsp. spoons.

Preparation

  1. Mix powdered sugar, poppy seeds, cloves, cinnamon and baking powder.

  • sugar – 250 g;
  • milk – 700 ml;

  1. Sift the flour, add 100 g of sugar and half the butter.
  2. Grind the ingredients until crumbly.
  3. 2/3 of its volume is placed at the bottom of the mold and put in the cold.

  5. Slowly add poppy seeds and semolina and stir.
  6. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes.

It is worth remembering that puff pastry must always be rolled out in one direction; this determines how it will rise and whether it will flake!

At the same time, the layer of dough without yeast should not be too thin, otherwise the structure of the dough will be lost. Also, there is no need to place the prepared poppy seed roll on a greased baking sheet, since the dough is already quite fatty! Also, keep in mind that every puff pastry recipe involves baking it in a preheated oven. It is better to leave the baked roll on the baking sheet until it cools completely, and only after that it should be removed from the baking sheet and cut into portions! Now, let's look at the simplest recipe for making a poppy seed roll without yeast.

We have a choice: either make our own puff pastry or use ready-made dough purchased from the supermarket.

For this poppy seed roll recipe you will need ready-made puff pastry!

  • Puff pastry - 500 gr;
  • Poppy - 200 gr;
  • Honey - 175 g (5 tbsp);
  • Flour - 1 tbsp. l. (without top);
  • Vanilla sugar - 1 pack;
  • Milk - 50 g;
  • Egg (yolk) - 1 pc.

Step by step recipe

The layered poppy seed roll is prepared in two steps. Initially, you need to prepare the filling and dough, then proceed with assembly, as described in the recipe.

Step 1 - preparing poppy seeds

Step 3 - preparing the test

  • Since we will be preparing the pie from ready-made, frozen puff pastry, such dough must initially be defrosted. It should not float, but only thaw to make it easier to work with.
  • Unroll the thawed dough on a clean kitchen towel, previously sprinkled with flour (you can also use cling film or parchment).
  • Roll out the dough directly onto the towel, not pressing too hard and trying to do it in one direction.
  • The thickness of the dough should not exceed 3 mm, otherwise it will not exfoliate well and our poppy seed puffs will not be so fluffy.

Step 4 - spread the filling and roll it up

  • Beat the yolk until fluffy and, using a pastry brush, brush it onto the top and sides of the roll - this will give a beautiful blush to the finished product.
  • Before baking the product, the oven must be preheated to 170 degrees. We put our product in a hot oven for 20 minutes with the bottom burner on - this will allow the dough to rise and layer, and then we put it in for another 15 minutes with the bottom and top burners on.
  • This approach will allow the dough to rise well and brown. (this recipe describes cooking a roll in an electric oven; for a gas oven, you can use the bottom burner throughout the entire baking time).
  • We do not immediately remove the finished roll from the baking sheet, but let it cool completely, after which the product can be cut into portions in the form of individual buns.

And although this recipe involves creating one roll, you can make portioned rolls at once by cutting the raw roll into pieces, and only then baking it. Also, the finished product can be sprinkled with powdered sugar if desired and served as delicious scones for tea.

Prepared in layers with poppy seeds, you can dilute them with some other filling, this will make our roll even tastier and richer. For example, you can add nuts and make a roll with poppy seeds and nuts.
