It is so easy to make mashed green peas that I don’t even know what to write about in this article in detail. Therefore, I will not begin to spread widely on wood and just briefly describe all the stages of cooking this wonderful side dish.

So, the main ingredient for our mashed potatoes is green peas, fresh or frozen. I always choose frozen green peas for cooking, since it is available on store shelves all year round and perfectly tolerates long-term storage in the freezer.

Here I have such frozen peas - smooth, beautiful, bright. Frozen peas do not need to be defrosted before cooking.

Heat the olive oil in a deep saucepan and add the peas to it. Stir for a few minutes so that the oil envelops each pea. Now fill the peas with hot water and boil for a few minutes until the peas are defrosted and become soft to bite.

At this stage, you need to salt the peas to taste.

After the peas are boiled until tender, drain the water and add the butter. Stir until the butter is completely melted.

Now chop the peas with an immersion blender. Grind to a uniform consistency with the condition that some texture will remain in the mash.

Now add hot water or warm cream to the crushed peas. It is better to choose cream, because it is they who will give the puree a more tender texture and give it a delicate creamy taste.

The amount of liquid added vary according to your preferences - the more water or cream you add, the more liquid your mash will be. Mix the mashed potatoes with a liquid with a spatula or using an immersion blender. Make sure that the mash does not become too fluid and do not forget to keep its texture.

That's all! Puree of green peas ready!

Do not limit yourself to simple mashed potatoes. Imagine, experiment! Try adding a bit of mint, chili flakes, ground pine nuts, grated hard cheese and other ingredients to your green peas! The main thing is the balance of taste and harmony!

Enjoy your meal!

Also, I will be glad to receive feedback on your cooking experience based on the materials of my article.

Light green puree creates a spring mood. Potatoes add softness, perfectly shading the taste and smell of fresh peas.

By the way, to the question of frozen green peas. I complained that it is very difficult to buy. With us he really disappeared from the sale. But the sellers in the ranks of the freeze in the market already recognize me in the face. The day before yesterday the following dialogue took place:

Do you need peas again? Do you need? I will bring tomorrow !!!

So yesterday I made a strategic reserve of frozen green peas, now I have it lying in the freezer for every fireman.

In the magazine "Liza", from which I dragged this idea, it was proposed to make mashed potatoes with the addition of dry mashed potatoes. But for me this is unacceptable. Therefore, I offer you an option from a natural potato, not a surrogate.

A side dish was served with fried sausage and fried onions. Type it gives the dish flavor. I do not know ... I am so tempted to criticize. I love fried onions, it does not bother me in any dishes, including this one. But you consider, this mashed potatoes are very gentle, it is quite possible that you will not want to add fried foods there. So I will recommend you a chicken stew, for example. Good sausages fit well, it seems to me. And since this mashed potatoes are cooked very quickly, the sausage option turns it into an express dinner, literally a five-minute preparation.

Well, also - here on the sidelines there was an opinion that peas, they say, have side effects ... I can say that this particular recipe does not give any unpleasant consequences, in any case, after two years of its use, I did not notice anything like that. Probably because fresh peas are used. Either because it is mixed with potatoes, but I did not notice any consequences either in myself or in children.

So I gave you an idea, I will be glad if you like it!
